Raymond scores late in third and OT to keep Red Wings end of the season games bursting at the seams with 5-4 win over the Canadiens

DETROIT (AP) — Lucas Raymond scored with 25 seconds left in extra time after he a game-binds objective with 1:17 excess in guideline, lifting the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-4 rebound prevail upon the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night that keeps their season finisher trusts alive.

“All this evening did is offer us a chance,” said J.T. Compher, who scored two objectives for Detroit to cut into shortages. “This did was allow us an opportunity to complete the task.”

The Red Wings will make the end of the season games assuming they succeed at Montreal and Washington loses at Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

Detroit mentor Derek Lalonde said his group has outperformed preseason assumptions, setting it in a situation to procure a spot in the end of the season games on the last round of the normal season.

“It’s here now,” he said. “Being a challenge is going.”

Detroit attracted iron on two shots extra time before Raymond’s shot from the right circle moved beyond Sam Montembeault, setting off a festival with each partner on the ice and shouting fans in the stands.

“I sort of shut down frankly,” Raymond said.

Brendan Gallagher scored two objectives and Montembeault halted 30 shots for the Canadiens, who scored two early objectives and were ahead 4-1 late in the subsequent period.

Compher pulled the Red Wings inside an objective halfway through the main period and scored again to slice their shortfall to two late in the second. Alex DeBrincat made it 4-3 halfway through the third.

“They several objectives, a couple octopuses on the ice and the structure truly got rolling,” Gallagher said. “They’re frantic.”

Detroit compensated for Alex Lyon offering up two objectives on the initial three chances he confronted, permitting two additional objectives in the subsequent period and wrapping up with 17 recoveries against a group distant from season finisher dispute.

The Red Wings were in 25 straight postseasons, the third-longest disagreement NHL history, and the streak halted in 2016 when they played at Joe Louis Field. Fans, frantic to root for a season finisher group once more, filled Little Caesars Field for the last customary season game at home.
